Hey Folks!

We would like to give you all a little bit of an update of what's been going on at the daycare recently. Since the nice weather, the children and staff have been fully enjoying everything the outdoors has to offer. Many children have been collectively going on bug hunts and collecting worms, ants and ladybugs, amongst other insects, in little jars with grass and twigs we can find around the yard. The children especially love to show off their bug hunting skills by showing the staff the various bugs they can fit on their hands.

On May 15th, we had another successful "Beautify Our Yard" day with many of the parents and staff coming together and working hard to make the yard look its best. There was a great turn out, a BBQ, and many things were accomplished, such as gardening, working on the benches in the yard, as well as decorating. Lori made some really cute pole signs for the different veggies growing in the garden so the children can identify which vegetable is growing where. As you may have noticed, there is a nice addition of little black fences around the flower beds and garden by the front windows. All of this great work is thanks to all the parent and staff, and as a bonus Jennifer Howard, the MLA for our area, showed up and got down with nature and got her hands dirty in the dirt along with everyone else, all volunteering their time on a beautiful and hot Saturday morning and afternoon.

All the staff at the daycare have really been working hard at keeping the spaces available to the children clean and clutter free, and the most obvious change lately would definitely have to be the housekeeping area. Next time you come pick up your child, please take a look at our multicultural housekeeping and shelves. In the housekeeping area we have put up a wonderful tee-pee tent, as well as some camping toys for the children to create their own camping adventures! As well, above the lockers by the wall, you will see an amazing assortment of items and saris brought to us by Kumari from her country of Sri Lanka.

As summer arrives, many of the children and staff will be taking vacation times. That does not mean the daycare will stop its activities. In fact, this is the busiest time for outdoor activities and field trips. The staff are busy planning field trips over the summer that will keep the children busy and entertained. As well, we have our Annual Family BBQ on June 17th, from 3:30-5;30, and you're all welcome to come and enjoy the outdoors with your children and the staff, and of course the wonderful food cooked by no other than our own Lori!On top of all the activities we also have our regular Inch The Clown coming once a month to perform a beautiful show of laughter and magic for the children.

Please stay tuned as we will be updating the blog on a monthly basis, or at least trying to as much as possible.

As the warm weather is here, please remember to keep yourselves and your children safe from the sun and heat! Enjoy the weather!
